Lyrical Ballads Tour Booking Terms.

Applies to bookings of the three-day guided walking weekend in the Lake District.

§ A.1 · Who we are

Who we are.

These terms govern your booking of, and participation in, the Lyrical Ballads Tour ("the Tour"), operated by 22 Works Ltd, trading as Society of Poets ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15916648, registered office 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NE. Contact: hello@societyofpoets.co.uk.

The Tour is a three-day guided walking weekend in the Lake District (Saturday to Monday). By booking, you confirm you have read, understood and agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and every guest in your booking.

§ A.2 · Booking and payment

2.1 The price of the Tour is £425 per person.

2.2 Payment is due in full at the time of booking, using the payment method you provide at checkout. By booking, you authorise us to take payment for the total price of your booking.

2.3 Bookings are confirmed only once we have received payment and sent written confirmation.

2.4 Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Depending on your party size and eligibility, you may pay by card or spread the fee using Klarna Pay-in-3. We do not store your card details.

§ A.3 · What is included, and what is not

What is included, and what is not.

3.1 The Tour price includes:

• The three-day guided programme, led by our guide.

• Guided fell walks on routes associated with the poets.

• Guided writing activities and group sessions.

• Entrance tickets, where applicable, to a number of sites visited as part of the programme.

• A welcome pack, made for each guest.

• Warming drinks and thoughtful snacks along the way.

• Access to a small number of partner venues at an exclusive discounted rate.

3.2 The Tour price does not include: accommodation (guests arrange and pay for their own), meals and refreshments beyond the beverages and snacks noted above, travel to and from the Lake District and between locations, personal expenses, appropriate clothing and equipment, or travel and personal insurance.

3.3 The specific locations visited form part of the experience and are not published in advance.

§ A.4 · If you cancel or change your booking

If you cancel or change your booking.

4.1 To cancel, notify us in writing at hello@societyofpoets.co.uk as soon as possible. Refunds are on the following scale, calculated from the first day of your booked Tour:

• More than eight weeks before the first day: full refund of all monies paid.

• Between eight and two weeks before the first day: 50% refund; the remaining 50% is non-refundable.

• Within two weeks of the first day: no refund; the fee is non-refundable, as your place is reserved and costs have been committed on your behalf.

4.2 Transfers and substitutions. With reasonable notice, and subject to availability, you may transfer your place to another person or move to another date. Any administration fee will be confirmed at the time of the transfer request.

4.3 We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance covering cancellation, so you are protected if you cannot attend for reasons outside our control.

§ A.5 · If we cancel or change the Tour

If we cancel or change the Tour.

5.1 The Tour runs with small groups. If we do not reach the minimum number of guests, or if circumstances beyond our reasonable control (including weather or safety) make it unsafe or impossible to run, we may cancel or reschedule.

5.2 If we cancel, you may choose a full refund of all monies paid, or a transfer to another date. This is the limit of our liability for a cancellation by us.

5.3 We may make reasonable changes to the programme, routes, walks or sites, for example for weather, ground conditions, safety or availability, without reducing the essential character of the Tour. The guide's decisions on the day, particularly on safety, are final.

§ A.6 · Physical demands and your fitness to take part

Physical demands and your fitness to take part.

6.1 The Tour involves walking on fells and open countryside over natural, uneven, and at times steep, wet, slippery or exposed terrain, in variable and potentially severe weather. It is physically demanding and takes place in a remote outdoor environment where help may not be quickly available.

6.2 You are responsible for satisfying yourself that you are in suitable health and physical condition to take part safely. By booking you confirm that you, and each guest in your booking, are reasonably fit to undertake guided hill walking of this nature.

6.3 You must tell us at the time of booking of any medical condition, injury, disability, allergy, dietary requirement or other need that may affect participation or safety. We will try to accommodate reasonable needs but some aspects of the Tour may not be suitable for everyone, and we may, acting reasonably, decline participation in a particular activity on safety grounds.

6.4 You must bring and use appropriate footwear, clothing and equipment for hill walking in changeable weather. The guide may prevent a guest from joining a walk if, in their reasonable judgement, the guest is inadequately equipped or unfit to proceed safely, without refund.

§ A.7 · Assumption of inherent risk

Assumption of inherent risk.

7.1 You understand and accept that outdoor and hill-walking activities carry inherent risks that cannot be eliminated even when reasonable care is taken. These include, without limitation: slips, trips and falls; uneven, unstable or slippery ground; changing and severe weather; cold, heat and exposure; water, rivers and steep or exposed ground; remoteness and delayed access to assistance; and the acts or omissions of other participants.

7.2 By taking part, you voluntarily accept these inherent risks so far as they arise despite us having taken reasonable care. You agree to follow the guide's reasonable instructions at all times, to stay with the group unless agreed otherwise, and to act sensibly for your own safety and that of others.

7.3 You are responsible for your personal belongings and for any loss or damage to them, and for your own actions where you depart from the guided programme or the guide's reasonable instructions.

7.4 Nothing in this section or these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. This section is about the ordinary inherent risks of the outdoors, not a waiver of our duty to take reasonable care of you.

§ A.8 · Insurance

Insurance.

8.1 We hold public liability insurance in respect of our activities. Details of the insurer and policy are available on request, and can also be shared with you in person at the start of your time with us.

8.2 We strongly recommend that you hold your own personal travel and accident insurance covering hill walking, cancellation, and medical or repatriation costs, as our insurance does not cover your personal losses, belongings, or inability to attend.

§ A.9 · Liability

9.1 Subject to clause 7.4, we are not liable for loss or damage that is not a foreseeable result of our breach, or that arises from circumstances outside our reasonable control (clause A.10), or from your own failure to follow reasonable safety instructions, or from the inherent risks you accept under clause 7.

9.2 Subject to clause 7.4, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with a booking, in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, is limited to the total price you paid for that booking, except to the extent a higher liability cannot lawfully be limited.

9.3 We are not responsible for services provided by third parties with whom you contract directly (accommodation, restaurants, transport, site operators).

§ A.10 · Events outside our control (force majeure)

Events outside our control (force majeure).

We are not liable for failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, flood, fire, landslip, illness or epidemic, transport disruption, or acts of government. Where such an event affects the Tour, clause A.5 applies.

§ A.11 · Health, safety and emergencies

11.1 You agree to disclose relevant medical information (clause 6.3) and to inform the guide promptly of any injury, illness or difficulty during the Tour.

11.2 You consent to us arranging or seeking emergency medical assistance on your behalf if you are unable to do so and the guide reasonably believes it necessary. You are responsible for any resulting medical or rescue costs, which is why personal insurance is strongly recommended.

We handle your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, and in compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

§ B · Scheduled Retreats

§ B.1 · Who we are

These terms govern your booking of, and participation in, our scheduled retreats: retreats we have planned and published on this website with a fixed date, price and place, and which you book directly on their event page. They are provided by 22 Works Ltd, trading as Society of Poets ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15916648, registered office 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NE. Contact: hello@societyofpoets.co.uk.

The Lyrical Ballads Tour has its own terms (§ A). Bespoke retreats, workshops and other experiences arranged by enquiry are covered by § C.

§ B.2 · Booking and payment

2.1 The price of each scheduled retreat is shown on its event page, per person.

2.2 Payment is due in full at the time of booking, using the payment method you provide at checkout. By booking, you authorise us to take payment for the total price of your booking, including any additional places you book for guests.

2.3 A booking is confirmed only once payment has been received and we have sent written confirmation by email.

2.4 Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Depending on your party size and eligibility, you may pay by card or, where the total is within the applicable Klarna cap, spread the fee using Klarna Pay-in-3. We do not store your card details.

§ B.3 · What is included, and what is not

3.1 What each scheduled retreat includes is set out on its event page, and typically comprises the day (or days) itself, the guided programme, materials provided, and food and drink taken together during the retreat.

3.2 Unless the event page explicitly says otherwise, the price does not include travel to and from the venue, accommodation, meals outside those provided, personal expenses, appropriate clothing for any outdoor element, or personal insurance.

3.3 The specific venue for a retreat may be shared with confirmed attendees closer to the day.

§ B.4 · If you cancel or change your booking

4.1 To cancel, notify us in writing at hello@societyofpoets.co.uk as soon as possible. Refunds are on the following scale, calculated from the day of the retreat:

• More than four weeks before the day: full refund of all monies paid.

• Between four weeks and two weeks before the day: 50% refund; the remaining 50% is non-refundable.

• Within two weeks of the day: no refund; the fee is non-refundable, as your place is reserved and costs have been committed on your behalf. Where we reasonably can, we will offer to transfer your place to another scheduled retreat within the next 12 months, subject to availability.

4.2 Transfers and substitutions. With reasonable notice, and subject to availability, you may transfer your place to another person or move to another scheduled retreat. Any administration fee will be confirmed at the time of the transfer request.

5.2 If we cancel, you may choose a full refund of all monies paid, or a transfer to another scheduled retreat. This is the limit of our liability for a cancellation by us.

5.3 We may make reasonable changes to venue, facilitator, format or the details of the programme without reducing the essential character of the retreat.

§ B.6 · Your right to change your mind

6.1 Our scheduled retreats are provided on a specific date. Under regulation 28(1)(h) of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to services related to leisure activities where the contract provides for a specific date or period of performance.

6.2 Our cancellation terms at clause B.4 apply in place of the statutory right. Nothing in this clause affects your other statutory rights as a consumer.

§ B.7 · Your participation and safety

7.1 You are responsible for satisfying yourself that you are in suitable health and physical condition to take part safely in the activities described on the event page.

7.2 You must tell us at the time of booking of any medical condition, injury, disability, allergy, dietary requirement or accessibility need that may affect participation or safety. We will try to accommodate reasonable needs but some aspects of a retreat may not be suitable for everyone.

7.3 You agree to follow reasonable safety instructions given by us or a venue. Where a retreat involves an outdoor element such as walking, additional activity-specific guidance may apply and will be provided to you.

7.4 Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

§ C.1 · Who we are

These terms govern our bespoke retreats, writing workshops, reflection days, story circles, listening work for organisations, and other experiences arranged by enquiry rather than booked directly on this website. The Lyrical Ballads Tour has its own terms (§ A), and our scheduled retreats booked directly on this website are covered by § B. They are provided by 22 Works Ltd, trading as Society of Poets ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15916648, registered office 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NE. § C.2 · How these are booked

2.1 Bespoke retreats, workshops and organisational work are arranged by enquiry. Details, dates, scope and price are agreed with you (or your organisation) in writing before anything is confirmed.

2.2 A booking is confirmed only once we have agreed the details in writing and received any deposit or payment we have specified. The specific payment terms, deposit, and cancellation terms for each experience will be set out in that written agreement or quotation, and take precedence over these general terms where they differ.

2.3 For organisational engagements, the commissioning organisation is responsible for payment and for the arrangements of its own attendees.

§ C.3 · Prices and payment

3.1 Prices are as quoted in writing for each experience. Unless stated otherwise, quotes are valid for 28 days.

3.2 Payment terms (including any deposit and the balance due date) are those set out in your written agreement or quotation. Invoices are payable within 28 days unless agreed otherwise.

What each experience includes is set out in its written description or quotation. Unless stated, prices do not include travel, accommodation, meals, or personal insurance.

§ C.5 · Changes and cancellation

5.1 To cancel or change a booking, contact us in writing as soon as possible. The cancellation terms for each experience are those set out in your written agreement or quotation; where none are specified, the following apply:

• More than 8 weeks before: the deposit is non-refundable.

• 8 weeks or fewer before: 50% of the fee is payable.

5.2 If we have to change or cancel an experience (including for insufficient numbers or circumstances beyond our reasonable control), you may choose a full refund of monies paid for it, or a transfer to an alternative, as agreed.

5.3 We may make reasonable changes to content, venue, facilitator or format without reducing the essential character of the experience.

§ C.6 · Your participation and safety

6.1 You are responsible for ensuring you are able to take part in the activities involved, and for telling us of any medical condition, accessibility need, or dietary requirement in advance.

6.2 You agree to follow reasonable safety instructions given by us or a venue. Where an experience involves any physical or outdoor element, additional activity-specific terms may apply and will be provided to you.

6.3 Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Society of Poets Lake District Retreat Prize Draw

Terms and Conditions

Competition opens: Friday 28th August 2026
Competition closes: 11:59pm on 1 December 2026
Retreat date: 8th-10th May 2027

1. Promoter and Competition Administrator

1.1. This prize draw (“Prize Draw”) is promoted and administered by 22 Works Ltd (Trading as Society of Poets.)

1.3. The Promoter is responsible for providing and fulfilling the prize. The Competition Administrator is responsible for administering the Prize Draw, including managing entries, conducting or arranging the prize draw and contacting the winner on the Promoter’s behalf.

1.4. By entering the Prize Draw, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

2. Eligibility

2.1. The Prize Draw is open to UK residents aged 18 years or over.

2.2. Employees, officers and directors of the Promoter, Competition Administrator, their respective group companies, agents and suppliers, and members of their immediate families or households, are not eligible to enter.

2.3. The Promoter and Competition Administrator reserve the right to verify the eligibility of any entrant and may request reasonable evidence of age, identity, residency or other information required to verify an entry.

3. How to Enter

3.1. To enter the Prize Draw, entrants must:

a) sign up to the Society of Poets newsletter using the designated competition entry form;
b) follow @wearesocietyofpoets on [Instagram/Facebook]; and
c) tag a friend in the comments of the designated Prize Draw post.

3.2. The Prize Draw closes at 11:59pm on 1 December 2026. Entries received after this time will not be accepted.

3.3. There is a limit of one entry per person.

3.4. Tagging additional people, submitting additional comments, sharing the post or otherwise interacting with the Prize Draw will not result in additional entries.

3.5. Entries must be submitted by the individual entering the Prize Draw and must not be submitted on behalf of another person.

3.6. Entries submitted using automated systems, bots, scripts or other automated means, or entries that the Promoter or Competition Administrator reasonably believes are fraudulent, incomplete, illegitimate or otherwise in breach of these Terms and Conditions, may be disqualified.

3.7. No purchase is necessary to enter.

4. The Prize

4.1. There is one prize available to be won.

4.2. The prize consists of a Society of Poets weekend retreat in the Lake District for two people, comprising:

• Two nights' accommodation;

• Dinner; and

• Attendance at the Society of Poets weekend retreat for two people.

4.3. The prize is valid only for the Society of Poets retreat taking place on 8th-10th May 2027

4.4. The winner and their guest must be available to attend the retreat on the specified date(s).

4.5. The prize does not include travel to or from the retreat, transport during the retreat, personal expenses, additional meals or drinks, travel insurance or any other costs not expressly stated as included in the prize.

4.6. There is no cash alternative to the prize.

4.7. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be sold, resold, auctioned or exchanged.

4.8. The prize cannot be exchanged for an alternative date or alternative Society of Poets retreat.

4.9. If the winner is unable or unwilling to attend the retreat on the specified date(s), the prize will be forfeited. The prize will not be transferred to another person, no alternative date will be offered and no cash or replacement prize will be provided.

4.10. If the winner forfeits the prize, the Promoter is not obliged to select or offer the prize to another entrant.

4.11. The Promoter reserves the right, where circumstances outside its reasonable control make this necessary, to substitute the prize with a prize of equal or greater value. Where a substitute prize is offered, there will still be no cash alternative.

4.12. All entrants, at the time of the draw, must be subscribed to receive emails and marketing from Society of Poets. If a person unsubscribes, they will not be eligible to win the competition

5. Winner Selection

5.1. The winner will be selected at random from all eligible and valid entries received before the closing date.

5.2. The random draw will be conducted using a random online draw method.

5.3. The draw will take place within 30 days of the closing date.

5.4. The Promoter and Competition Administrator will retain appropriate evidence of the winner selection process.

6. Contacting the Winner

6.1. The winner will be contacted by email using the email address provided when entering the Prize Draw.

6.2. The winner will be contacted within 7 days of the draw taking place.

6.3. The winner must respond within 7 days of the notification being sent.

6.4. The winner may be required to provide reasonable information to confirm their eligibility and arrange delivery of the prize.

6.5. If the winner:

a) does not respond within the specified period;
b) cannot be contacted;
c) is found to be ineligible;
d) cannot comply with these Terms and Conditions; or
e) confirms that they cannot attend the retreat on the specified date(s),

the prize will be forfeited.

6.6. In these circumstances, the Promoter is not obliged to select a replacement winner and the prize may remain unawarded.

7. Winner Details and Publicity

7.1. The surname and county of the winner may be made available to members of the public who request confirmation of the winner, subject to applicable law.

7.2. The winner may object to the publication of their details or request that only a limited amount of information is published, where applicable.

7.3. The winner may be asked to participate in reasonable publicity relating to the Prize Draw. Participation in publicity will be subject to the winner's agreement.

8. Newsletter and Marketing

8.1. By entering the Prize Draw, entrants provide their email address for the purposes of administering the Prize Draw and, where applicable, receiving Society of Poets newsletter communications.

8.2. Entrants will be provided with appropriate information regarding the use of their personal data at the point of entry.

8.3. Entrants may unsubscribe from the Society of Poets newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe facility provided in the relevant communication.

8.4. Unsubscribing from marketing communications after entering the Prize Draw will not invalidate an otherwise valid entry.

9. Personal Data

9.1. Personal data submitted as part of the Prize Draw will be processed in accordance with the applicable privacy policy.

9.2. Personal data will not be shared with any third parties, at any point.

9.3. Entrants should review the privacy policy before entering the Prize Draw.

10. Social Media Platforms

10.1. This Prize Draw is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Instagram, Facebook or any other social media platform through which the Prize Draw is promoted.

10.2. Entrants release the relevant social media platform from responsibility in connection with the Prize Draw to the extent permitted by law.

10.3. Entrants must comply with the applicable terms and policies of the relevant social media platform.

11. Liability

11.1. Neither the Promoter nor the Competition Administrator accepts responsibility for:

a) entries that are lost, delayed, incomplete, corrupted or incorrectly submitted;
b) technical failures affecting the submission of an entry;
c) any failure or unavailability of the website, social media platform, email service or other systems used in connection with the Prize Draw; or
d) any circumstances outside their reasonable control that prevent an entrant from participating in the Prize Draw.

11.2. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

12. Changes to the Prize Draw

12.1. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, suspend or amend the Prize Draw where circumstances outside its reasonable control make this necessary.

12.2. The Promoter will make reasonable efforts to communicate any material changes to the Prize Draw to entrants.

13. General

13.1. The Promoter and Competition Administrator reserve the right to disqualify any entrant where they reasonably believe that the entrant has breached these Terms and Conditions, acted fraudulently or attempted to manipulate the Prize Draw.

13.2. The Promoter's decision regarding the administration of the Prize Draw and selection of the winner is final, subject to the entrant's statutory rights.

13.3. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

13.4. The laws of England and Wales govern these Terms and Conditions, and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights that apply.

14. Acceptance

14.1. By entering the Prize Draw, entrants confirm that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions.
